QRPTTF (TO THE FIELD) 2013

IMG_4885.JPG

I was able to able to work QRPTTF from a knob that is approximately 250 feet above the surrounding terrain near Lancaster Ohio. (and you thought Ohio was flat). The knob is in Shellenbarger Park, located near the intersections of Routes 33 and 22.

Lots of fun, but band conditions were weird at best.  Still I was able to make 17 Q’s with 4 summits (SOTA) mixed in.  I was able to spend about 3 hours on the knob that day.  Only 2 Q’s on 40 with everything else on 20 and 15.  10 meters seemed to be dead.

I was also able to work W2M (The Samuel Morse special event station) and Greece when things got slow.  I used my KX-3 and a 44 foot doublet up in a tree.

Pictures from the Knob.
